Turned Up or Short Nose Some noses are turned upward too much, revealing an excessive amount of nostril in the front view. The nose also does not look proportional to the face. This can be due to inheritance, trauma or older techniques in rhinoplasty. There are a variety of techniques for lengthening the nose either absolutely or in relative terms. "In relative terms" means making changes to other parts of the nose other than the short bridge to make it appear longer.  Sometimes a nose may have an upturned short appearance, but might not actually be too short. This could be because the bridge is too low up in between the eyes or the septum has overgrown pushing out the lower lip. Video imaging is an excellent way to preview a variety of potential changes that can be carried out in rhinoplasty.
