The Middle Eastern Nose

The Middle Eastern Nose

There clearly are a number of characteristics of the Middle Eastern nose that encourage patients to seek some changes.  Features commonly seen in the Middle Eastern nose include a significant nasal hump, a long or droopy orientation with the tip lunging and also a wide bulbous tip.  The wide or bulbous tip may be due to thick skin or wide underlying tip cartilages.  Many of these patients seeking surgical changes are young females.  But it is not uncommon for male patients to desire rhinoplasty for these characteristics.  An especially detailed consultation and discussion is necessary in this group since some patients want to retain certain ethnic traits and male patients want to retain the masculinity of their facial features.  Fortunately there are many options for the patient.  There are many choices on how much and where a dorsal hump is lowered and to what degree the nose is shortened.  Many other details of the surgery are customized to the patient's desires and this requires a detailed analysis and thorough discussion.  Often other nasal characteristics such as crookedness or breathing difficulties are addressed at the same time.
