Low Bridge Problem

The side view reveals the bridge to be too low with this shape of nose. The tip will look too protruding compared to the bridge. This shape may be due to trauma, overly aggressive or older techniques in rhinoplasty, or inheritance. It may well be associated with nasal obstruction or feeling that it is difficult to breathe through the nose. The only way to build up the bridge is to add something to it beneath the skin that raises the silhouette. It is preferred to use a patient's own tissues and there are a variety of choices such as septum, ear cartilage, rib, bone, or fascia. A patient's own tissue is most reliable long term, but there are pros and cons to each source of tissue. On occasion implants are reasonable alternatives.
